Welcome

We host some of the finest senior players in the world.

The Society of Seniors was founded in 1983 by Dale Morey, Ed Tutwiler, and Ralph Bogart. The purpose was to provide strong competition for the finest senior amateur players, played under the Rules of Golf, as approved by the USGA, on the finest courses available, at a reasonable cost and without regard to handicap allowances. 72 men signed up at the initial meeting at Wild Dunes Golf Club, Isle of Palms, SC.

Today, The Society of Seniors has 804 members and included in the roster are USGA Senior Amateur Champions from 1983 through 2007, 12 Walker Cup Players, over 30 panel members of the Golf Digest and GOLFWEEK Course rating panels, and several international members.

Over the past 24 years, our members have dominated the Golf Digest list of top Senior Amateurs - most years sweeping all 10 places - and every year taking at least 9 of the top 10 positions. Paul Schlachter is the 2007 GOLFWEEK Senior Amateur of the Year.

News

Important announcements from The Society of Seniors.

Current results are available from the 2008 Dale Morey, John Owens, and Founders events.

John's Notes

Words from John Harrigan.

Congratulations to Jerry Hudgins on his second win at the Dale Morey Championship, and to Russ Berkoben who took the Owens trophy. The event was a huge success with twenty of the Founding members in attendance. The banquet, with Maury Povich as Master of Ceremonies and a great presentation by Mark Mulvoy and Ed Ervasti, was second to none.

Unfortunately, our field was down 20-25% due to current economic conditions. We hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

Please check out the members section where we have posted the new application form for new members and also check out the revised point schedule. You can now download the application form, only one sponsor is required, and the point schedule has been expanded to include more local and regional placings.

The November newsletter and dues notice should be in your mailbox by November 22, and will be posted online. Please send in your dues before January 1. There are a few spots remaining in the Bogart (Dec 16-18 at Mediterra in Naples) please check your schedule and see if you can make it.
