RESULTS: 2025 Canadian Men’s Senior Championship

NEW MINAS, NS. – Don Martone, of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, seized control of the 2025 Canadian Senior Championship at KenWo Golf Club in Nova Scotia with a sensational second round of 7-under par 63.  Martone played steady golf from there en route to an eight-shot victory over fellow-countryman Dwight Reinhart, of Ottawa.  Martone played smart golf on Friday after sleeping on a six-shot lead and closed with a round of 71 (+1), and 7-under par total of 273.

Bryan Hoops, of Tempe, AZ, who has had a spectacular summer, was looking to keep the momentum of his third round 66 going, but couldn’t find the same form on Friday.  Hoops finished in solo third place after a closing round of even par 70.

Jack Hall, the 2015 Canadian Senior champion, was successful in his defense of the Super Senior division title, as he took the top honor again with a four-day total of (+4) 284.  The 2024 overall runner-up, Hall finished in a tie for fourth overall this year with two-time champion Gene Elliott (2017, 2019), of Norwalk, IA.  Elliott was Mr. Consistent throughout the event in carding four consecutive rounds of 71.

Doug Hanzel, of Savannah, GA, who pulled off the Canadian Senior/Super Senior double-dip in 2023, put on a major charge in the final round.  Hanzel was 4-under par through twelve before a bogey at No. 13 stopped his momentum.  He would finish with a round of even par 70 to finish tied 12th overall at (+9), and runner-up to Hall in the Super Senior division.

Todd Doss, of Mandeville, LA, finished in a tie for ninth at (+7) overall, while 2022 Canadian Senior champion, Rusty Strawn, of Eatonton, GA, finished (+8) overall, good for 11th place.
