EVENT PORTAL: 71st U.S. Senior Amateur Championship
LUTHERVILLE, Md. – It was an impressive run by many members of the Society of Seniors this week at Baltimore Country Club. Congratulations to both Tony Wise (Georgetown, KY) and Brendan Hester (Singer Island, FL) on making it all the way to the Quarterfinals of the 71st U.S. Senior Amateur Championship.

Both Wise and Hester were on the receiving end of some late match heroics from their opponents. Mike Sposa (Spartanburg, SC) came up with a clutch birdie on the par 3 No. 17 to turn the tide against Wise at the very end.
For Hester, it was 2023 Champion Todd White (Spartanburg, SC), who continued his amazing play down the stretch in close matches. White, who also took down Rick Stimmel and Brian Quackenbush with late birdies, was back in his bag against Hester. His birdie on the long par 4 No. 16 tied the match, and then another birdie on the tough finishing par 4 No. 18 knocked out Hester.
On an interesting note, the two familiar foes from Spartanburg (White and Sposa) could face each other in the final. At the time of print, both held slight leads on their opponents through ten holes in the Semifinal matches.
Speaking of their opponents, Tim Hogarth (Northridge, CA) and Corby Segal (Santa Clarita, CA) each played their collegiate golf at Cal State Northridge, adding another wrinkle into intriguing potential matchups.
Congratulations to all Society members who participated in the 71st U.S. Senior Amateur Championship. It was a thrill to follow you all throughout the championship.
The final match will be 18 holes played on Thursday morning. Admission and parking is free and spectators are encouraged to attend.
