Society of Seniors Foundation Scholarships

The Society of Seniors Foundation Scholarships are awarded to sons or daughters of our host club employees.

Changing Lives

The Society of Seniors Foundation Scholarships are awarded to sons or daughters of our host club employees. Each year the Foundation identifies clubs that have or are planning to host an event. The Foundation is a wonderful way to give back to those clubs that host and support our events.

A Foundation scholarship is based on financial need of the student attending an accreted institution of higher learning. The award is for one year but renewable annually if the student’s grade performance is met. These scholarships help make college more affordable for those with financial need.

A college education can change the trajectory of a life.  We receive the majority of contributions at year-end.  As you plan your annual year-end gifts, please remember the work of the Society of Seniors Foundation.

There are many giving options for you to consider:

1.  Gifts of cash/check should be mailed to:
The Community Foundation
P O Box 1068
Harrisonburg, VA 22803.

**Please note the SOS Foundation Scholarship in the memo line.

2.  Direct a portion of your RMD from your IRA/401K

3.  For a gift of securities (talk with your professional advisor) and

Revlan Hill at The Community Foundation at 540-432-3863.

4.  Please also consider leaving the Society of Seniors Foundation Scholarship Fund and the Community Foundation in your estate plans.

We encourage you to discuss your situation with your financial planner for the best course of action.  Any questions about a gift should be directed to The Community Foundation of Harrisonburg Rockingham County at phone number 540-432-3863.

Thank you for supporting the Society of Seniors Foundation Scholarship.  We all know it is better to give than to receive and we thank you for joining us in giving the gift of education to those who need our support.
