Three Society Representatives at The Broadmoor
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Three members of the Society of Seniors will go up against the world’s best professional players age 50 and over at the 45th U.S. Senior Open Championship being contested at The Broadmoor (East Course) in Colorado Springs, CO. The event begins on Thursday, June 26, and features 19 amateurs in the field, including Doug Clapp, Manomet, MA, Terrence Miskell, New Braunfels, TX, and Mark Strickland, San Diego, CA.
Doug Clapp secured his spot by posting a two-under round of 69 at the Final Qualifying site in Deal, NJ at Deal Golf & Country Club on June 10th. Clapp tied for second place with amateur Tomas Arlia, as well as professionals Len Mattiace, John Bushka, Robert Karlsson, and Thomas Levet.
Also advancing from the Deal, NJ site is Mark Strickland, who earned his spot by way of first alternate. Strickland, who has played in seven different USGA Championships and 23 in total, will be playing in his fourth U.S. Senior Open. He looks to draw on past success as he took low amateur honors in 2023 when he tied for 42nd at SentryWorld.
Terrence Miskell fought his way through a tough field in Final Qualifying at The Bear’s Club in Jupiter, FL, on June 12th. Miskell punched his ticket to the Colorado Rockies by firing a strong three-under 69, which was just a stroke behind co-medalists Arjun Atwal and Jason Gore.
