Bryan Hoops, Tempe, AZ

RESULTS: 2026 Senior Masters Tournament

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. – Players enjoyed gorgeous weather for three days in Palm Springs at the 2026 Senior Masters presented by Callaway Golf and hosted by Indian Wells Golf Resort.  Three out of four divisions saw finishes come down to the wire, with two needing extra holes to decide a winner.

Bryan Hoops (Tempe, AZ) fired a final round 3-under 69 to edge Rick Stimmel (Pittsburgh, PA) by one shot and record back-to-back wins at the Senior Masters.  Hoops finished at 7-under 208 for the tournament after rounds of 71-68-69.

It was a tight battle all day between two of the top ranked senior amateurs in the world, as Hoops is ranked third (#1 U.S.), while Stimmel is currently No. 23.  Both players have spent time as the top-ranked senior amateur in the United States.

“It was close all day out there,” said Hoops.  “Rick played really well the whole week and again day, and so did John Bearrie too.  Everyone was hitting good shots and playing well.  Coming from behind is something you kind of have to be ready for, because is always hard to win against these guys.  It was tough the first day on the newly renovated Players Course, but I was happy I hung in there and gave myself a chance as we moved over to Celebrity for the final two rounds.”

Stimmel enjoyed a three stroke lead after five holes of the final round, but he made bogey on No. 6 and then a Hoops birdie on No. 7 made things interesting the rest of the day as the two traded blows.  As the back nine wore on, it was neck-and-neck at the top.  With both players tied at 7-under for the event on the 18th tee, Stimmel found a fairway bunker and played a solid shot that finished just off the back of the green.  Hoops was on in regulation and able to two-putt for par, while Stimmel’s par attempt just missed.

Hoops added, “It was never lopsided out there.  I made a dumb bogey on 16 and Rick had a great up-and-down there to go up by one.  I was able to stuff one in on 17 for birdie to get that back.  Rick caught a bunker on 18 and hit a good shot just over, and unfortunately didn’t get up-and-down there.  I thought it was going to extra holes.  It’s always nice to be fortunate and come away with a win.”

Randy Haag (Orinda, CA) finished in third place at 3-under 212, while John Bearrie (Hollsopple, PA) finished fourth another shot back.  John Derrick (Waco, TX) finished fifth and also tied for low round of the day and tournament with a closing 68 of his own.

Allen Peake, Macon, GA

Super Senior

Playing in his first Society event as a Super Senior, Allen Peake (Macon, GA) won on the second playoff hole after he and Jerry Rose (American Fork, UT) both finished regulation at 1-under 214.  By his own account, after an estimated 80 events, it was Peake’s first win in a Society event.  Rose tied for low round of the day with his bogey-free final round 68 to force the playoff.

Starting the round on the ninth hole, Rose parred his first 10 holes and then made four in-a-row on No. 1-4 to reach 4-under for his round.  His steady play continued as he parred out.  Peake drew back even with Rose after a birdie of his own on No. 5, and the two remained deadlocked through the finish.

“After probably 80 tries, it’s the first time ever to win a Society event, so I’m just ecstatic and excited,” said Peake.  “I played real consistent today, just one birdie and one bogey.  I’ve played in two other events as a Super Senior and played pretty well with top ten finishes, so I feel like I can compete out here against what is always a strong field of great players.”

On the first playoff hole (No. 10, par 4), Rose had about 15 feet for birdie to win.  He gave it a great chance, but it just slid past the cup and he settled for par.  Peake faced an uncomfortable three-footer for par to extend, and was happy to see that one fall to continue the playoff.

On the second playoff hole (No. 11, par 4), Peake went into attack mode.

“I hit a gap wedge in there to about 10 feet above the hole on No. 11,” Peake commented.  “It was a tricky little downhiller and it somehow found its way in the hole for my second birdie of the day.  I love the Society of Seniors, been a longtime fan and so to win the Senior Masters, which I’ve been runner-up about 8 years ago, it’s just an honor and I don’t take this lightly because it’s so hard to win out here.”

Michael Jonson, Sammamish, WA

Legend Division

Michael Jonson (Sammamish, WA) emerged victorious in the Legend division after defeating Evan Long (Charlotte, NC) on the second playoff hole.  Jonson and Long were tied at 4-over 219.

On the first playoff hole, Long found the right penalty area, but was able to play it close to the green and made a 15-foot par save to force another hole after Jonson missed a 12-footer for birdie.  On the next hole, Long again found trouble off the tee and this time was not as fortunate as it resulted in a lost ball.  Jonson played conservative to about 20 feet for birdie, and was able to two-putt to secure the win.

“I think the venue was great and it’s a place where you have to show some respect off the tee and keep it in play,” said Jonson.  “I didn’t think I had my best stuff this week, but it’s always a grind and of course they treat us so well and the Society does a great job all the time.”

Mark Weston (Windermere, FL) finished in third place at 6-over 221.

Greg Mokler, Timnath, CO

Super Legend Division

Greg Mokler (Timnath, CO) won the Super Legend division by four strokes over the duo of Sam Robinson (Jacksonville Beach, FL) and Richard Hunt (Bixby, OK).  Mokler posted a winning total of 6-over 221, while Robinson and Hunt landed at 10-over 225.

“I didn’t start the tournament very well, I was six over after five holes on the first day, and finished there for the tournament,” said Mokler.  “So, I just took it one shot at a time and my putter started working during the last two days.  The swing felt good and I had a lot of fun playing with a bunch of really nice guys.  After playing in about 20 Senior Masters, it’s great to finally get a win.”

Mokler closed with a final round 2-under 70, while Robinson also joined him in red numbers on Saturday with a closing 70.

Special thanks to Indian Wells Golf Resort for hosting the event, and to Callaway Golf for their sponsorship of the Society of Seniors.

The Society will now relocate to nearby Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, CA, for the 11th Founders Cup on April 13-16.
