Strong Society Showing at British Senior Amateur

WALTON HEATH, England – The Society of Seniors is well-represented at the 2025 British Men’s Senior Amateur Championship being contested this week at Walton Heath’s Old and New Courses in England.  Leading the way is Savannah, Georgia resident Danny Nelson.  Nelson is in the clubhouse at four-under par through two rounds and sits in a tie for third with Bob Royak, of Alpharetta, GA.  There will be a cut to the low 50 men, including ties, to move onto the final two rounds on Thursday and Friday.  Defending Champion Todd White, of Spartanburg, SC, is in at level par.  John Kennedy of England leads the championship at eight-under par.

Several members sit comfortably inside the cut line, including 2021 Champion Gene Elliott, of Norwalk, IA, who is in at one-under.  Others include Jack Hall (E), of Savannah, GA; Lee Porter (+1), of Pinehurst, NC; Doug Clapp (+1), of Manomet, MA; Bryan Hoops (+1), of Tempe, AZ; Mike Lohner (+2), of Southlake, TX; Randy Haag (+2), of Orinda, CA; Brad Steven (+2), of Concord Township, OH; Michael Anderson (+3), of Novi, MI; and Craig Hurlbert (+3), of The Woodlands, TX.

The cut line eventually fell at +3, as members just missing the cut included Derek Paton, John Bearrie, Steve Harwell, Chad Branton, Trae Cassell, Mike Combs, Doug Hanzel, Rusty Strawn, Yancey Johnson, Dennis Martin, Paul Wharton, Shaw Pritchett, Steve Wheeler, Joe Palmer, Craig Miyamoto, Stephen Marland, Ronan Culligan, and Michael Arasin.
