Nelson ties for second at British Senior Amateur
WALTON HEATH, England – Danny Nelson, Savannah, GA, battled to post an even par round of 72 in the final round of the British Senior Amateur, good enough to earn a tie for runner-up honors with defending champion Todd White, of Spartanburg, SC, and Jody Flanagan, of Ireland, at four-under for the championship. The champion is England’s John Kennedy, the 36 and 54-hole leader, as he finished the job by carding a final round 73 (+1), and winning by seven strokes at 11-under par.
Mike Lohner, of Southlake, TX, closed in great form with a two-under final round to post a top ten finish (T9th) at one-under for the championship. Bryan Hoops, of Tempe, AZ, finished tied for 11th place at even par after his closing round of 73. Gene Elliott, the 2021 British Senior Amateur Champion of Norwalk, IA, matched Lohner’s round of 70 and finished in a respectable tie for 15th, along with Brad Steven, of Concord Township, OH.
