LAKE SUZY, Fla. – The 18th Spring Classic is underway at the pristine Aileron Golf Club. 88 players were treated to a chilly morning that gave way to plenty of Florida sunshine with a light breeze and comfortable temperatures that reached 75 degrees.
Coming off his win at last month’s Aileron Senior Invitational, Kevin VandenBerg finds himself at the top of the Senior division leaderboard after a first round 69 (-3). VandenBerg’s round was the best of the day and featured five birdies against two bogeys.
In the Super Senior division, Stevie Cannady and Byron Whitman both went around in 72 (E) and share the top spot going into round two. Terry Tyson and Ed Turner at tied atop the Legend division after matching rounds of 75 (+3). Don Donatoni leads the way in the Super Legend division with a fine round of 70 (-2).
