RESULTS: 44th Dale Morey Championship
SAVANNAH, Ga. – Players in 44th Dale Morey Championship enjoyed perfect weather on Monday in the lowcountry of Georgia at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club. Sunny skies and a high around 82 degrees provided optimal scoring conditions on day one of competition. In the Senior division, three are tied at the top after posting rounds of three-under par 69. That trio includes Jon Veneziano (Orlando, FL), Jeff Frazier (Mechanicsburg, PA), and Ed Kerr (Windsor, CO). There is plenty of company right behind the leaders as 14 players are at even par or better.
The round of the day in the Super Senior division belonged to Allen Peake (Macon, GA) as he posted six birdies against one bogey for a stellar score of 67 (-5). Peake leads by one stroke over Georgia State Golf Association Hall of Famer and local member Doug Hanzel (Savannah, GA). Hanzel carded five birdies against a lone bogey on his home course. Stevie Cannady (Pooler, GA) and Paige Hood (Atlanta, GA), are tied for third at two-under par.
The second round gets underway on Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. off of the 1st and 10th tees.
