RESULTS: 2026 R&A Senior Amateur

FRILFORD HEATH, England – Early in the final round on Friday in England, it was Bryan Hoops (Tempe, AZ) making his intentions known after sleeping on a one shot lead.  Hoops got off to a dream start going three-under through six holes to create separation from the field.  He would go on to post a blistering final round 66 (-6) to finish at 10-under 278 and win by six strokes over runners-up John Kemp (Woburn), and Richard Heath (Australia). Hoops’ round featured seven birdies against a lone bogey on No. 8, and he got a bit of redemption on the inward nine as he broke par for the first time while closing in style with a 33 (-3).  Congratulations to Bryan Hoops on winning the 2026 R&A Senior Amateur Championship.

Michael McCoy (Norwalk, IA) posted a final round 72 to finish at three-under overall and alone in fourth place.  Danny Nelson (Savannah, GA) battled back after a tough third round to post an even-par 72 of his own on Friday to round out the top five at one-under for the championship.

More top finishers among Society members were Miles McConnell (Canada) and Jon Lindstrom (Denver, CO) at +3 overall, good enough for a tie for 11th.  Tony Wise (Georgetown, KY) finished in a tie for 15th at +4.

Among additional Society members who made the cut:

T21 – William Smith (Newville, PA)  +8

T21 – Tony Hejna (Juno Beach, FL)  +8

46 – Craig Hurlbert (The Woodlands, TX)  +16

52 – Mike Combs (Roswell, GA)  +25
