RESULTS: 2026 R&A Senior Amateur
FRILFORD HEATH, England – Follow along as several Society of Seniors members are in the hunt at the 2026 R&A Senior Amateur Championship at the Frilford Heath Blue and Red courses.
On moving day Thursday, it was Bryan Hoops (Tempe, AZ) making the jump into the lead at 4-under par after a third round 71 (-1). Michael McCoy (Norwalk, IA) fired the low-round of the day with a sparkling 5-under 67 in difficult conditions. Hoops may have had a bigger lead if not for a little misfortune along the way. He caught a tough lie that led to a double on 15 and then committed his only three-putt of the day on the last.
The round was going in the wrong direction for McCoy after a double on 10 and bogey at 11, but he righted the ship with five birdies in-a-row starting on 13 prior to making a 12-foot eagle putt at 18 to cap off a remarkable turnaround with an incoming nine of 32 (-4). McCoy is now just one stroke behind the leader Hoops heading into tomorrow’s final round.
Overnight leader Danny Nelson (Savannah, GA) currently sits in a tie for sixth along with Jon Lindstrom (Denver, CO) at 1-under for the tournament.
